ARB X-jack Issue

So my GF who rules decided to get me the ARB X-Jack last weekend while I was out of town, since for some odd reason I turned down a ARB bumper.(I know I need to get my head checked).

So today I decided to break it open and test it out to see how it works before I take it out on the trail. Well for those of you that haven't seen one check the link. It's a cool system and I know that one of the guys from All-pro like his so I was really looking forward to testing it out. Well as I was testing it the FJC just wasn't pumping it up at all from the exhaust so I tried using it on my FJ-40 and well the damn input hose melted. It pumped up once but when I tried to do it a second time I all of a sudden felt hot exhaust on my arm. Granted I was a little pissed since this was brand new, but at least it was happening during testing and not when I needed it.

So a good rule for everyone is when you get new recovery gear test it out at home first not on the trail since A. you should know how it works and B. If there is going to be a failure you don't want to be struck on the trail.

So I took it back to 4 Wheeldrive Parts in San Jose and they were cool about drop shipping me a new one. I really want the X-jack to work because even though I own a Hi-lift I hate them with a passion, since most people don't know how to use them and they can hurt themselves badly with it. I've seen it more then once over the years. I will be giving ARB a call to see if this is an issue they have run into at all or if I just had a bad hose.

Re: ARB X-jack Issue

I have always wanted one of those.
What is the going price around?

I hope the melting is not going to happen again, as I could see one of these in my future to recovery tools.

Re: ARB X-jack Issue

Sorry about the jack issue
I have used the jack 3 times with no issues at all
It is a great addition to anyones recovery gear and since the first time I used one, I have been amazed at what it does.
Hope you have better luck with the new one.

Re: ARB X-jack Issue

Works great for what it is. Fits perfect on TRD exhaust tip, lil tougher on stock tip, either way just make sure the hose isn't twisted when filling (easy to do.)
If you have on board air or a tank however (make sure you have a blower nozzle) that is the best way to use it!
