rattle can or powdercoat skidplate?

i have the allpro skid plate which comes in bare metal and I need some opinions on to rattle can primer and rustoleum it or powder coat it. I do some offroad trailing but realistically the fj is on the road most of the time and the snow and salt in PA is a major concern. I also realize powdercoating will give better protection but when it chips or scratches it will be harder to repair.

I rattled my Buds...because I decided you can't really see them..and when you scratch them..because..you're going to...that it will be a lot easier to just hit them with more spray paint. Actually the only skid that looks good is the front one..the others I didn't really worry about as long as I got them painted black.

Rattle canned my stock skids with black undercoating. Scratched, reapplied, scratched, reapplied...

Re: rattle can or powdercoat skidplate?

Has anyone left the all-pro skid unpainted? Hows it look?

Unpainted turns a lovely rust color quickly. Definitely recomend painting them.

Re: rattle can or powdercoat skidplate?

I used "Rust Bullet" on my All Pro Skids. It is a brush on Silver colored with no prep needed. You can only get it Online. One quart did my Skid Plate, Tranny Plate, E-locker guard and rear diff. Use 2 coats on top and 3 on the bottom side.
