With the controller box inside the hood, won't it be difficult to operate the winch from inside the vehicle? You'll have to have the hood up
Absolutely.
The safest way to winch is to have your hood up anyway. If the winch cable breaks (and they do), you'll definitely want something more than an FJ windshield between you and 10,000 pounds of energy thrusting a winch cable directly back at you.
Looks effin awesome.. seriously. Before I kinda didn't dig the look of the warn.. that big ol hoop didn't convince me but this looks nothing like the other pics I've seen. Congrats. Just one question What's up with the lack of mud under that hood/wheels? Either you are not wheeling it enough of I might have to pay you to detail mine just kidding
There's obviously going to be a protrusion by putting on any winch bumper (to accomadate the depth of a winch). But, the winch mounting surface sits very high, actually resulting in a substantially improved approach angle. So much so, that it exposes the factory front tow hooks out in the open, rather than tucked in behind the OEM plastic bumper.

Thanks for the quick reply, I think I'll stick with Warn! Timbo2

You're welcome, timbo2.
You won't go wrong with the Warn. It was a toss-up between it and the ARB, since they both have that non-descriptive squared-off rugged look that I happen to like in a winch bumper. Both are about the same weight and durability. I guess it was the $300 price difference that won me over. Plus, the open mounting tray that exposes the winch for easy access and monitoring.
Some folks don't like the open tray, for fear of having their winch being borrowed by someone who isn't courteous enough to leave a note . . . . and I don't blame them a bit. But, I've always liked Warn products, and a Warn winch lock on the underside of the mounting tray should at least annoy a competent winch thief.
