Looks great! I liked how you set up the before and after shots, same angle and zoom!

I was also digging your work chair! I have an old computer chair that I was about to throw away, then I saw your pic! Thanks

I don't know. One time I look at it and I luv it and the next time I'm just not sure about that loop and open tray. Definitely like it better than the ARB for sure......

Re: Warn Winch Bumper install - pics

Nice work Steve, the Warn looks much better with your pics. This is about my only option to put a Warn 8274 (tall winch with reduction gears) on my FJC, the only thing that keeps me from buying it, is the loop that doesn't look very elaborated, but I guess it serves its purpose. I was hoping the new one that Expedition 1 is bringing out soon (or so they say) was able to carry the 8274. We will see.

I would like to know where did you purchase the bumper? The cheapest I found is on 4wheelonline.com for $ 850 and the cheapest ARB is from 4x4connection.com for $ 996. I guess you say there is a $300 difference with ARBs fog light kit included? Or I am looking in the wrong places?

Thanks for the info

Matter of fact, I was initially thinking about putting my 8274-50 on the FJ, but decided to go with a low profile (and slightly lighter) unit instead. But, the Warn bumper would be the beast to handle an 8274, thanks to the open top tray.

Yeah, I have to admit, the hoop isn't one of the bumper's prettiest features. Given an option, I probably would've gone without it.

I got mine from gowarn.com for $840 + $60 shipping. Since I bought the M8000 at the same time, they knocked off a few more dollars and threw in free shipping for the winch. The approximate price difference was what I pulled off the Front Bumper Comparison thread. (Even if I had know that the ARB could be had for less than $1000, I still would've gone with the Warn. Personal preference, I guess.)

The open tray I wanted . . . . the loop I probably could live without.

I didn't take photos of the step-by-step process since Warn's instruction manual has fantastic close-up pics of each step. (I'll try posting that manual later in this thread.)
You can find the installation manual on Warn's site here:

Thumbs up Re: Warn Winch Bumper install - pics

Wow, I've never seen such detailed instructions with such nice pics. I think I will order it too. Any specific reason you didn't go for the 8274?
Thanks guys

Pretty much personal preference, I guess. Like I said, I didn't want to add any more weight to what the heavy Warn bumper itself already provided, and the 8274-50 is close to twice the weight (and cost) of an M8000. I also wanted to go with a low profile winch that was accessible from the top of the bumper, but didn't protrude over the top. (Another reason why I stashed the solenoid box under the hood.)

I've got an 8274-50 on my FJ40 (and I love it), but I've always equated the look of that winch to the vintage 4x4 rigs, and the FJC kinda screams out for a more streamlined and modern look.
