If the aftermarket rock rails attach to the frame using the same factory threads, then I will evaluate it and consider it. If the aftermarket rails require welding or attach to other body parts, I won't consider it. I realize that my answer may not be as valuable to you as someone that already own and expects to get delivery in the next couple weeks.

i agree as well. wondering if anyone has a line or info on any rails that will be coming out anytime soon. or should i just go ahead and buy the toyota rails and then modify later when something else comes out. i just dont want to wait to long to get these things on.
also, has anyone installed the toyota rails themselves? please rate your experience if you have.

There have been a couple of posts from people who installed them themselves - apparently it is a 20 minute job (that's it). So I am planning on not getting them, waiting to see what comes out aftermarket, and if I do not like any, just going ahead and ordering them and installing them myself.
I watched the technician at Toyota swap my RB's for RR's. If you know how to un-screw/screw-in a bolt with a ratchet then you can install the Toyota rails. It took the technician about 30 minutes to remove the boards and install the rails. I have to admit that I like the Bentup rails, but the Toyota rails meet my needs.
Our FJ came in with the Rock Rails, they seem really tough so far. We took it out once already and high centered it and there was no damage at all to the rails or the frame. It made me very proud!!
I'm going to make a set from 2" seamless with .095 walls - maybe I'll go up on the thickness since due to its intended purpose, Hmmm. I do like the Bentup rails, but a little too protruding for my liking. I'll also be desinging a roll bar out of 1 3/4" tube for good measure. I'm sure Bentup has already got this task covered as well.
