Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather MOD

I've previously done the rear diff/elocker breather and now I'd like to take care of the transfer case and transmisison...
I've got a manual. Are there still questions about this? Has anyone completed a breather for the manual yet?

So far here's what I've got.
1. Rear Diff - complete
2. E-Locker - complete
3. Transfer Case - seems like there a good directions for this and shouldn't be too bad.
4. Manual Trans - i'm lost on this one.

Is that a complete list? Can anyone help or point me in the right directions for good instructions on the trans? Maybe I just missed them.

Thanks,
Shannon

Your list is complete for 6MT equipped FJ's. In Post #1 of this Thread, Shadow-Warrior has a diagram posted of the 6MT with the vent location showing on it.

Thank you. At least I know my list is complete now...

I see the diagram at the beginning of this post, but I haven't been able to find it in the real world yet. Has anyone been able to locate and extend this breather?

Thanks,
Shannon

I can not, for the life of me find the 1/4"x1/4"/1/8" "T" anywhere. No auto part store in my area has even heard of one.

Any place online that has these?

That is amazing since they are extremely common around here. Every chain store carries them Checker, AutoZone, etc..... They are usually carded hanging on a peg, or in a clear blister pack on a round, rotating peg display with all sorts of other vacuum fittings, clips, bolts, etc....

I find asking this week's stock clerk about things like this almost always turns up an unequivocal 'no' or a 'dear in the headlights' look.

I got mine at O'Reilly's. They didnt have them indivually packaged, but I did find them in a "variety pack" which contained several different sizes. If you cant find them, PM me your address and I can drop by and pick some up the next time I "go to town".

Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

That's where I checked, O'Reiley's. Oh well. Guess I'll keep looking around.

I need it by this weekend for the trail ride.

Also, how important is the transmission breather on a 6mt?

Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

Thanks to the OP for providing detailed step-by-step instructions.

I finally did the SCUBA Driver mod. Wow. What an easy procedure. I'm really surprised Toyota didn't do this in the factory.

On to the pics:

It'll be put through it's paces on Saturday.

Now, how do I get my SCUBA Driver sticker?
