Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

I am also having trouble finding 1/8" tubing. Do I need 1/8" inner diameter? Any special type of tubing?

Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

Scuba Mod Completed.

FYI the lil metal ended breather on top of the tranny is a booger. ended up just removing the whole rubber line to the metal connector. and replaced it with the 1/4 line and a hose clap , you will need a small 1/4 socket and rachet to tighten the clamp , but it is doable.

got the rear finished also, using the plastic T and camry part. ran mine up in the rear jack compartment and then out to the void where the tailight is located. no problems with this mod.

and another FYI is when i took out the rear diff breather i put it in my mouth and could blow out easy, but when i tried to suck inward it did not breathe back, or no air getting back in. Hmm?

same with the rear elocker mouth could push air out, but could not suck any back in. Hmm again?

another FYI, in the Front the little plastic breather sucked air both ways. i think this is the tranny one.

The Diff breather was the same as the rear diff breather and you could push air out, but not suck it back in..

thought i would try to give some a better idea on the operation of these certain breathers. however doing this mod gives me a piece of mind knowing they are up out of any harms way..

Thanks Shadow for this post

How did you end up accessing the front breathers, from top or under?

Where is the origin of the tranny hose? Can't you just cut off the metal end?

they both are on the top side of the tranny along side the stiff harness wire running there, one is on the right side the other on the left side, both right against the middle harness.
the long one on the driverside is real easy to work with this is the 1/8 hose the other on the passenger side is to stupid short, so i just yanked it out and replaced it completely

both accessed from the top. i have pretty big arms and hand but, was able to get in there just fine by rolling up my sleeve and scratching the poop out of my inner forearm.

tried from the wheel wheel, and i did not have any go gadget arms long enough to make it worth the effort. maybe if i had a lift it would work..

hope this helps.

I also after installing clamps and fittings etc, taped them up where i could.

Yes, 1/8" I.D. Vacuum hose will work. Anything that is oil/fuel resistant.

Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

i used the coupler and used a 1/8 male on one end and a 1/4 on the other end this worked very well..

My other question is is it ok to use the open airfilter for the rear, because the original one was not 2 way and using the /air filter leaves it open all the time

I have not reached back far enough to find the origin of these hoses. Can you see the metal fittings or just feel them?

feel them first then just pull on the driver side it will come right to you easy, the other side is very short, i only learned where they are by getting on the creeper and rolling under it from driverside and shining flashlight on top of center of tranny, then it makes more sense,, then i felt them and found them first time..

dead center of engine dead center of tranny you will reach in up to you elbow almost to get to them..i will try to snap a shot and see if that helps. no promises it is tight in there
