Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

Oh believe me, I read and re-read that page so many times I lost count. I guess I am just not seeing what I am supposed to be seeing. I'll just have to find another 08 FJ owner in my area who knows where and what to look for. Thanks anyway.

Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

With all the posting about my transmission I think I forgot to post piss of the rear breather......

A Bruisers dad put together this fitting for the breather filters so that when you go to tighten the hose clamps around the filter with the hose inside it will not cause the hose to buckle.

Here is the "T" Connector that we rigged. I was unable to find a 1/4 X 1/4 X 1/8, so I went with a 1/4 X 3 and uses a reducer of the locker hose.

used a 1/4 1/4 1/4 tee instead or a 1/4 1/4 1/8

Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

I have read hundreds of posts in probably 2 dozen threads on the scuba mod. I am quite comfortable with the rear diff and locker. I am equally comfortable with ADD and front diff. I have no idea how I am going to do the AT and transfer breathers.

How the hell did you guys get there? From below I can get one hand on top of the housing, but I cant tell what I am touching, never-mind swap out anything. From above I can see the top of the bell if I am looking from the passenger side downward at a 45, and if I climb up into the engine bay I can peek over the top and look down, but that is badly. I'm 6'3" with long arms. I have no idea how you guy get in there unless your pulling tons of parts out. And since I cant get in there, I'm not convinced I know where the existing breathers are.

Can anyone enlighten me? Zoomed out and zoomed in photos of you actively sticking your hand in there and touching the breathers (or their hoses) would be ideal. Barring that, some text written for my 3rd grade understanding level would suffice.

Thanks.

You have to get to the AT breather from up on top along the passenger side inside the engine bay. It on top and forward towards the engine. You can't see it by looking down, you have to feel it,, then grab hold and lift it up, you will see a white plastic sap on the end of the hose, thats the AT breather.

HELLO I was looking around the store for parts to do the Mod for this I did see a air line for air guns with a 3/4 fitting Is this the same size nut for the rear diff breather ?

If so I really think that a flex hose would look better then the rubber black ones you have in the pictures,, Don't get me wrong I think you have done a great job the way you have done it I just like the flex line because it comes in different colors and is flexable.

This not about "Looks", It's aboout function. Use what ever you want, be for warned, it needs to be heavy duty because it's under the vehicle where wear and tear is. If you use something that is more thinner, you take the chance of it breaking down then having some serious problems. Do what you want.

Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

Shadow,
Thanks for the great post! I completed the e-locker and diff breather relocation to the jack storage area as others have done. I will post pics shortly (do you still have stickers?)

I have an 08 and could only locate the transfer case breather. The AT breather on '08's is attached to a bracket fitting on the tranny. I gave up and had the local dealership perform the relo. The tech was able to remove and relocate the entire bracket onto the inner fender along with the xfer case breather.

Thanks again,
Mike

Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

IN my truck 2007 AT I have something very similar looking to the 4th pic attached to the driver side of the engine. What is it. I figure from all the reading that it is not the AT breather or for the transfer case but it looks like the factory breathers. Anyone know what it is?
