If you have an AT, then the two breathers you are talking about are for the front diff and the ADD unit.

I though the breathers were down closer to the tranny near the fire wall?

Not the front diff and ADD breathers.

Awww heck! I'm doin' this. I just ordered the fuel-line union from Toyota and have the other parts that I need - hopefully I'll get this done by Sunday.

don't forget the little filters from the auto store they will help keep a vacum from occuring in the diffs..

I got 'er done! I opted for routing the breather hose up into the left rear (jack) storage bin - less length of hose required and less to worry about IMO...

Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

I am getting ready to do this mod.
I noticed that a couple of posts mentioned that the union on the rear diff is NPT, but no one said what size. So, since the dealer has to order this part out, what size is it??? (so I can get it at HD or lowes)..
Thanks.

Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

Went ahead and did this yesterday. The only hard part was locating the breathers for the tranny and xfer case. To anyone else looking for them - they are right behind the heads on top of the bell housing. You can see them from the passenger side using a flashlight.
The fitting I used for the rear diff is a 1/4" npt, in case anyone else has the same dilema that I posted on..
I have some ideas for a snorkle of sorts to keep splash in the engine compartment from getting to the filter. I'll post pics when complete.
Thanks to all who posted previously on this topic, very informative and helpful!

Re: SCUBA Driver Transmission, Transfer Case, Rear Differential & E-Locker Breather M

The fitting that is listed as a camry fuel union is NOT a 1/4 NPT!!!!Neither is the original 1 way breather.
The differential housing is NOT tapped for 1/4 NPT!!!!

The correct thread size is 1/8 NPS!!---1/8th National Pipe Straight!
Its NOT National Pipe Taper.

Do NOT force a TAPERED Pipe threaded fitting into your housing!!!

Go to Toyota and purchase the Union as origially instucted.

NPT==== National Pipe TAPERED
NPS===== National Pipe STRAIGHT!

Compleated the Mod today!!---- Thanks!!!

Thanks for posting. I'm not sure why people want to "Try" something different when I tried to give complete instructions in the first place to take all the work out if it for them....I don't know why someone would have posted it being 1/4 NPT, since it's all Metric in the first place should have given them a clue...you can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink.
