Re: MissFJ's Project SFA

You and Sol rule for doing this first! I'm also in a deep jealous sulk

I posted this question over on Sol's page, also - interested in your thoughts on "street legality":

With the heavily mod'ed setup, will the vehicle still be "street legal" (I know this is somewhat vague - there are debates over whether "beadlocks" are street legal, lifts, etc.) Will your truck now mainly be a trailered vehicle or will you still do long street drives?

Re: MissFJ's Project SFA

There was a thread not too long ago on this page about the street legality of a modded rig such as this.....

By the wording of that new law, all of the SAS projects recently started would undoubtedly be illegal and unregisterable.

I'm surprised how little attention that thread garnered....

Let me search for it and I'll see if I can link it.

Re: MissFJ's Project SFA

Reposted from my SAS thread:

My SAS will not be a trailer queen build. Although, I will trailer it to certain trails. While this is not my daily driver, I am building it so that if I want to drive it daily I can. Legality of it Post SAS is as Wyatt said, questionable if you undergo an inspection in CA, but it's not enough to make a CHP pull you over. With the new law that just came into effect things might change and it may become illegal to drive on the streets. If that happens, I will chop the top build a cage and stuff some 37" tires on it and call it a trailer queen.

This is my daily driver (short commute). I'll try not to go off on a tear about beadlock legality Simply put, I'm on the "not illegal" boat. Beadlock wheels do need to be taken proper care of....

If the new law passes as is, none of the 4 vehicles in my driveway would be legal. That leaves me with learning to ride a ducati...motorcycles haven't been outlawed yet for fear of hurting its owners have they??? There is so much to say about proposed legislation that its not worth getting into....maybe on that other thread

It's only going to be around 6" over stock hieght. Keeping the COG as low as possible with lots of down travel.
