Alright, my friends. By request, I've compiled as much information on as many rear bumpers I could find on the web.
Excellent thread Kyle. Any information on DEPARTURE ANGLES? I would sacrifice all other features and go with the bumper that has the best departure angle. Any ideas which one? My guess would go to All Pro

If you want the best departure angle, and are willing to sacrifice "all other features", pull that plastic skin off, and just run the rear cross member.

Looking at the picture below, even running no bumper, the tail pipe (non-TRD), or the hitch are the things that you'll bash the most.

using that logic, I could just bob the entire FJ 8" and have an awesome departure angle!

No, i want the best departure angle WITH a bumper. Thanks for the idea tho!

Speaking of the tow hitch, I usually run a large tow hook out the back of my hitch when I wheel. It's actually an old slick rock trick. Let the hook take all the abuse.

Purely an assessment from the photos, but as far as a bumper that is AVAILABLE now and gives the best departure angle, I'm thinking it's going to be a combination of the All-Pro rear bumper and their low-profile exhaust kit.

I think someone has actually done that, but I'm having trouble finding the post. Maybe it's in my head, hehe.

Thats what i determined also. The All Pro guys are wheelers so they know the deal. Not that ARB, Warn and the others aren't making fine products, but for me I just want a simple clean bumper that will take some abuse with the least amount of hangups.

Re: Complete Rear Bumper Comparison

I think there is so little room for departure angle improvement, that any of the aftermarket bumpers will improve it what little they can. I was only able to find side shots of All Pro's and Warn's, but I bet the rest are tucked flat up against the bottom of the frame as well.

The biggest clearance factor is the exhaust, and it looks like All Pro has a fix for that dialed in.

The truck I am buying has a really nice TRD tip on it also. Bummer. Its gonna be move it or lose it for the TRD exhaust. What a waste.
