someone was asking about full time 4 wheel drive
I answered them
the rest of us with part time 4wd just click into 4 high
full time 4wd and AWD were developed for slippery surfaces and not having to transfer, kinda like a convenence issue, they were developed because a lot of people would like the safety of 4x4 on high shear surfaces on road and would never go offroading. Either of the 3 work well in snow, and the more the full time systems get developed the better they get.
Part time 4wd is the icon of offroaders, they want the strength of the partime transfer cases so they can beat the snot out of them. there is coming a day when the offroad crowd will start to change over as the systems get closer and closer to each other
