towing

Has anybody towed 4500lbs yet and liked it? If so are you MT or AT..
Not really sure which one to get. My Towing is for a boat only 2 miles up and back to the launch. I live near NYC and fear the left leg clutch issue in traffic.
It's a pretty firm clutch when I test drove one.
Any Advice..better gas mpg with AT as well. I won't be going offroad but definetly on the beach.

For a 2 mile trip to the boat ramp -- either is fine however 4x4 would be advisable. Not sure how well a 2wheel drive FJ would handle pulling a boat up a wet boat ramp -- traction control would help some. With 4wheel just pop her in low and no worries up the ramp...

Depends on the ramp... but I pull out 7500 lbs with the FJ in two-wheel drive... no problem.

Probably the benifit of traction control. "In the old days -- like I am that old" Traction control on a 2wheel drive at the boat ramp was 3 clicks on e-brake -- actually works pretty good in a pinch.

I just posted a question about towing a 5000# boat and trailer which this response seems to answer. I'd sure like to know a little more about your towing experiences.
