Re: so hows the FJ performance wise?

Ok well I have just bought my FJ about a week ago, I had a GMC Suburban Detroit V8 bought this because I cannot live with out a truck. It has better performance than my landbarge and is alot of fun to drive. I have not been off road yet but am looking forward to it. It has the 4.0l V6 same as the 4runner. Look for the Motorweek show on the FJ it has great info.

Re: so hows the FJ performance wise?

You got to test drive it to see. I used to have a boss 302 mustang (late 60s muscle car), and it could pick up and go. The FJC is almost as spritely. it moves well. The V6 has V8 power.

When I bought mine, I first test drove a Jeep Liberty and Wrangler and then a Honda Element. the FJ blows all those away.

Just don't expect it to have cat-like nimbleness. It lumbers like a truck - a truck on crack.

The FJ also blows the H3 off the line, no problem. Very spirited for a relatively heavy SUV.

Prior to buying I test drove the new taco, &4Runner both V6 and V8. I don't recommend the V6. The FJ has more pep. Don't know why. I believe they both weigh about the same. The V8 seems a bit more peppier than the FJ, a bit. The FJ has a more pronounce exhaust note than both. To me, the FJ also feels livelier than the taco for some reason. Same engine, i know. Just a subjective opinion is all. To answer your question the engine is just right leaning towards quick for it's size.

in rereading the pre-introduction reviews of the fj,i'm suprised at how the writers missed the sporty and nimble feel of the fj,especially the mt...i was pleasantly suprised the day i picked it up and it get's better every trip

It's been a great truck to drive! lots of power...handles well for what it is...no problem merging onto the freeway. Look down and before you know it, your doing 80...in 4th gear with two to go...It's a blast to drive!!

Re: so hows the FJ performance wise?

Feels good at 115 MPH....and quick of the line, I think it is 0-60 in 7.6 sec? Not sure exactly. BTW, don't ask about why I was going 115....I am hazard to all including myself, so shoot me.
