Oil/filter change

This was absolutely the easiest oil/filter change I have ever done on any vehicle I have ever owned. Took a total of 20 minutes from start to finish. 5.5 quarts of fresh Penzoil 5w30 and a 6.00 Toyota filter and a new flat washer. By the way before you crawl underneath the drain plug is a
14mm

Toyota hit the mark spot on making this a breeze.

Re: Oil/filter change

I'm kind of torn, I almost always do my oil changes and maintenance myself, even on my Ford Super-Duty diesel that holds 15 quarts, but my FJC, uh, I mean my wife's FJC, the oil changes are free from the dealer for as long as I own it. The Super-Duty has the same setup, the oil filter is on top of the engine, much better!!

should see if you can get them to just give you some trade for the oil changes. maybe give you the filters/oil and "save" them the labor??

Re: Oil/filter change

As a personal preference for a break in change I'd go with Valvoline or Kendall. After a couple dinosaur oil changes I'd convert to RedLine synthetic...see www.redlineoil.com for why it's 'da bomb.

I have taken apart engines over the years where the customer religously used PeeZoil and find varnish build up along with broken parts---one of oils jobs is to keep the engine clean with the proper detergent package.

Valvoline DuraBlend partial synthetic isn't bad if you don't want to spring the 8.00 a quart for RedLine.

My observations thru the years is like this: Opinions on motor oil brands are like a-holes---everyone has one.
Nobody seems to care however what tranny fluid, brake fluid, gear oil or anti freeze they use.

Once they figure you are not the stew pigeon that they can talk into a bunch of needless work along with the "free" oil change, you will likely get the blank look concerning getting your oil and filters.

The nissan stealer by our shop has that ploy. One of our old women customers bought a new Sentra. The wouldnt give her the oil change after they saw she was bringing it to us for the scheduled stuff and other stuff she broke off the car. The second "free" oil change they did included an added $60.00 tire rotation, and $39.99 washer fluid.
We told her our $29.99 oil change that includes wiper juice and $20.00 rotate every other oil change would make her "free" oil change look silly.

If I am going to do it myself, which I am sure I will be, I'll be switching to Amsoil products where ever I can use them. But damn, they throw in a free bad car wash with the free oil change!!
