When you say "remove the charcoal thing" do you mean the charcoal canister?
If so that is part of the evaporative emissions controls. It and its plumbing circulate and absorbs some of the vapors off the top of the fuel tank to help reduce smog formation.
Likely if you remove it you will have a check engine light coming on because of it. Likely a code would show up on a scan tool:
P0401 or the like, if i remember.
The law says it is illegal to remove it so it's up to you... I won't tell the Emissions Police.
The engine will run the same but innocent babies will die. Its up to you.

I just called Premier and ordered mine, I am in LA, thats lower Alabama if you did'nt know, so I am hoping to see it early next week as well.Now we just need some exhaust choices and we'll be set.At least till the tires wear out, and a couple of lift kits come out.
