Cut-out and Beep when Going over Water Bars

I was driving my 6 speed MT FJ yesterday at about 10 mph on a forest service road (pretty level, easy stuff) and hit a water bar a little faster than usual (but was not flying - only about 10-15 mph). On the back side of the bar, while the FJ was straddling it, the power slightly cut out and the dash beeped at me (no lights).

Any ideas what this was about or what I did? I won't be going fast over humps again, but it sure didn't seem like it was that fast. Not like I was catching air or anything.

Thanks, Greg

if you were in hi range, it sounds like the VSC kicked on.

normal and nothing to worry about

Sounds like the VSC. It will cut the power to the wheels so that it can get traction. Thats why I installed an off switch that I use in 2wd on gravel roads.

Re: Cut-out and Beep when Going over Water Bars

I like having VSC/TRAC when driving on the highway at higher speeds, but it is a pain in the neck when driving slowly in variable traction situations so I installed a cancel switch also and have been happy with it. TRAC especially is annoying at best and a hazard on occasion when the engine cuts out while merging into traffic and you hit a little loose gravel or a pot hole and one tire spins momentarily. Search VSC cancel. There are several threads on how to put in a switch. Take care,
Bugs

Re: Cut-out and Beep when Going over Water Bars

Thanks folks. Very helpful. I have 4WD and realized all I have to do is put it in HL to get "VSC off" - next time. If it continues to bug me I will look into further mods (am contemplating the ATRAC while RDiff one already).

Again, thanks - Greg
