I didn't do it. I don't know how to MIG weld, but I use a torch and can stick weld okay.

Yes, an anti-rubbing mod.

Yep, hacked bits. Bits of something that shouldn't have been done like that in the first place.

The tires are 285/70-17, on a 17x9 wheel that sticks the tire out some. Actually I'm getting a lift too, so I can put on the 295/70-17's that are on my stock wheels.

Re: Oh for the love of......

I'm sensing a new trend here... zoomed in pictures of FJC's taken from odd angles with no real description...

call it a "what the heck is that" contest.

course... with rooster and CaliFJ here... we probably don't want to invite the opprotunity for... uh... creative embellishment.

Sorry, the "bits" are from the body mounts located behind the front wheels, that aren't boxed in enough to support anything anyway. Very hindering to those of us that want larger tires. Looks like 3-4 inches of wasted metal to me.

Heh, no problem... I figured it out. I'm just not... intimitley familiar with my FJC's wheel-wells... (yet).

I'm a bit new to this whole "lift kit+bigger wheels" thing... but then My desires to surmount crevasses > 10-15 inches across ... isn't all that huge (yet).

and for the record... my suggestion beat the ACTUAL thread by ~ 30 seconds.
