URD Supercharger!

Found this posted at TTORA today....thanks go to Super Doody (jim) for posting it....

http://www.urdusa.com/product_info.p..._id=1260518463

"The initial offering of the URD 1GR Supercharger kit will be for the X-Runner only and will sell for $4695.00. We will be testing the Tacoma automatic transmission application soon and plan to expand the kit to fit all the current Toyota vehicles that use the 1GR engine to include the 4Runner, Tundra, and FJ Cruiser. Don’t worry we will have an option for an off road friendly intake for the serious off roaders. URD is exploring 50 state smog certification, but is currently offering this kit as an off road use only kit."

Very nice work. 100+ Horsepower for $5000 is pretty good. Sounds like you can forget using regular unleaded though. You don't feed a lion tofu.

Re: URD Supercharger!

Agreed ths is cool, but at ~16.5% the cost of MSRP on my FJ, this is way to much $$

Re: URD Supercharger!

I agree.....too expensive. AND....being an aftermarket as opposed to TRD part will do wonders for your warrenty.

Re: URD Supercharger!

It's not very pretty, I'll wait for TRD, could be waiting a while though, unfortunately. $ doesn't scare me, just the look of it and lack of warranty.
I'll bet it screams!!!!

Re: URD Supercharger!

If you are a really harcore off roader.. this should def be a mod on your list.. but one of the very last... here's my long term mayor mod list.. After the basic 3-4" lift and 33/35 inch tires it comes...

underbody Armor
SAS
more aggresive T-case (>4.1:1)
drivetrain mods here and there..
Supercharger & EMS tunned to give out maximum torque.. then again with the S/C I'd also bore the throttle body. Port Polish the pistons. Bore it to a 4.2/4.3 L. Bigger Injectors.. and after all that buy a hydrogen powered car because I am pretty sure I'll get worse gas mileage than an H2.

edit: I guess the my point is.. worry about drivetrain/suspension then worry about the engine..

Re: URD Supercharger!

Pretty spendy...but what a performance boost! I'll definately wait until TRD comes out with something that won't corrupt my warranty. It will be worth it just to blow Heeps, H3s, and other FJs off the line....sorry folks, I like to go fast!!!

Try to keep up if you can!!! And if you have a faster ride...I always give the courtesy of staying to the right...
