do you mean afe? if so they made a plug that justs pops into the hole, oscar the afe rep was giving them out at meet & greet3 here in so cal im sure he could get anyone a plug that needs one i got his number in my fj (it should be home by end of next week) and i can see about getting them sent out or fjoel can too
Yeh, sorry, I ment AFE, URD makes one also, but I meant AFE. Thanks thats good to know that they make a plug. I question why they would make a plug? or better yet, why have a large opening in the bottom of the box which would draw in "Hot engine Air" defeating the purpose of trying to get Cold Air?...I have never understood the design of the AFE box, it dosn't make engineering sense to me...Anyway's it's good to know that they make a plug for it. If you want PM with the info where those with the AFE can get the plug and give me the cost etc. I'll take that info and post it up at the begining of the thread for everyone. Thanks

ha ha i have your answers ...

oscar was asked the same question and he said that it was designed for a more on road application and that at idle or low rpms the hole was static and it would not be in use till you get on the gas hard so they made the plug to accommodate the off-road guys

If thats the case they should "Market it in the correct format". I know alot of members on here bought it and they Off-Road alot. I would think if they knew this, they may have went with the TRD instead...Just my thoughts Do they supply the plug with the AFE CAI or is it something you have to buy extra?

I decided to make a thread for the install of the ARB Snorkel
I know this will be a sticky, and rightly so, however since I don't have my snorkel yet, it just creates "snorkel envy".

So we may be seeing them in TWO WEEKS?

Stuck

I just like saying the word snorkel and will do so daily until they arrive. Sometimes I wake myself up in the middle of the night yelling the name "SNORKEL!!!!!" only to awaken to a room void of said snorkel. It will come. I know it will. It has to.

Re: ARB Safari Snorkel Install Instructions w/ Pics

For general info, I talked to ARB yesterday regarding our orders for the snorkels, and they say it will be hopefully Nov - Dec when they arrive - they are shooting for release before Christmas, but they may not get here 'til Jan '08, depending on customs, etc... so 2 weeks from now is, unfortunately, very unlikely...

Thanks

It dosn't look like it's going to be any big deal at this point. I will be taking some pic's of mine and taking dimensions. I will then be posting more info on it. This will only help those that have the TRD CAI. Those with the AFE will have a lot more work to do to make it water tight due to the large opening in the bottom of the CAI box.
Actually aFe released a plug to help with this, and it costs much less than the difference between the TRD and aFe intakes...

I will have a few soon. Along with some other new FJ intake goodies, just released!

edit: just fnished reading the rest of the posts... yeah you all now anyway... I thought I was special.

The aFe intake aux hole draws alot more air Mike, and aFe's argument is that the additional airflow cancels out the warm air effect. I think I will wheel with the plug in and city drive with it out, for some more HP an better MPG.
