Maybe I missed it, But is the consensus on the
1/8" weep holes in the air cleaner and air pickup
at the fender location ?...
Instructions leave it up to the owner to decide...
I see it two ways, if any water gets into the
system from the top of the snorkel intake, it
needs to have a place to drain out... and if you
are riding along and hit a deep hole, a drop of
water may push into the holes, but not enough
to hurt anything... but if stuck in some deep
water, how much is going to weep up in from
them ?...
I need a ton of opinions here folks, and some
true life experiances too !...
After my last excursion, I checked the air box
and found some water/mud debris at the "in"
side of the air filter, just a tad, so it seems to
be fine being pluged up like I have it... from the
looks of all the mud covering my Fj, I'd say next
to nothingmade it up to the Snorkel intake, and
the only stuff insde cam from one of the plugs
getting loose, need a lil' more sealent there..
My 2 cents on the install is that the fender liner is PITA. Way too many plastic clips holding plastic things on. I took 3.5 hrs to install and this is my first major install proj. I think I spent most of my time holding back what little liner I could remove in one hand and 2-clic ratcheting blindly inside the fender for the other half the time. Its sooo worth it in the end though. Quite pleased.....except for a sticker....might have to paint the raised lettering on the SAFARI portion of the snorkel.

My thought? How about a "duck-bill" valve. It is a check valve of sorts, made out of rubber and flattened at one end. I have seen them throught the years on various cars, usually a drain for the vents by your wipers, sometimes and drain-down areas in trunks. They allow stuff to drain out but not get in "too" easily. You could put one or more of these in your weep holes. Thoughts???
I just drilled the holes for my snorkel in prep for install. I only drilled the 16mm holes to 10mm and guess what, it lines up just fine. I figured I could drill bigger if needed.
I guess ARB wanted to give lots of extra play for those people who miss mark their FJ.
