A-Trac makes weird noise

First off, i serached for this and found nothing.
I took my FJ off road last night behind my friends house. When i went to use a-trac to get out of a hole, it made this clicking type noise. It sounded kind of strange. Is this normal or something i should look into?

normal. it makes that type of noise as it uses the brakes on the slipping wheel.

If it sounds like the CV is coming apart under you, it's working normally.

Re: A-Trac makes weird noise

Yeah, first time I used it it scared the crap out of me. Sounded like I was running over heavy Tupperware bowls on the pavement and popping them.
It's normal though.
