Warn 9.5xp or M8000?

The wife says the FJ looks stupid with the all-pro winch bumper and no winch. Hence, a winch shall be bought. Considering that the bumper is designed around a warn 9.5xp; Has anyone used both of these winches? If so, is the 9.5xp worth the extra $300 bucks?

Regards, SSC

i have a xd9000i and i love it. it was quite a bit cheaper than the 9.5 so i went for it. it pulled my jeep 30 feet up a 80 degree slope covered with boulders with the parking brake on, and it didnt joke around.

Re: Warn 9.5xp or M8000?

I've never used an m8000, but was considering the same thing for my all-pro bumper. I splurged for the 9.5xp for the fast line speed (its REALLY quick), its sealed better so I wont worry about the occasional dunk in deep water, and of course its got a little more power.

Ive actually dragged 2 trucks (mine, plus another truck i was anchored to) while trying to dislodge a broken tacoma from a rock. That was pretty impressive to me.

The 9.5 is an easier install in the All pro, but the M8 will go.

AllPro Bumper and Warn M8000 Alternate Install

The M8 will be plenty for most users, but the 9.5 is really nice for the reasons mentioned above (line speed)

Re: Warn 9.5xp or M8000?

It kind of depends on how much winching you anticipate doing. The 9.5 is substantially faster than the 8000, so if you're going to be winching much it's worth the added expense. If not, the 8000 is great backup in case you ever need to extricate yourself.

Re: Warn 9.5xp or M8000?

I have never used a winch in over 20 years of wheeling. I have seen a winch used on a few occasions. Anyway, I must please the OL, so I ordered the 9.5.

Regards, SSC

Jaxtoy-if the OL ain't happy, then nobody happy. Isn't that why we invented "manipulation of the truth?"

"No honey it makes you look thin and 10 years younger."

Now back to the regularly scheduled programming. I did read that article, thanks KM. The warn is an animal.

Re: Warn 9.5xp or M8000?

I was surprised how many brands failed. The superwinch is a great value as well.
I would love to have the Warn Power Plant but dam they are expensive.
