149 good for the Hitch and cover???

I need a hitch now so I saw one on Ebay from a Toy dealer for 149, plus 15 shipping, I checked on TRD source, but it was like 2 something, I assume its got the wiring harness, which I don't need because I'm not towing big items, just using it as a bike rack thing. anyone point be to a better deal??? Id rather use a sponsor on here then some random place on ebay, but the bottom line is still price, of course. TIA all.

Get an aftermarket. You won't have to change the bumper and I believe it is a better mount since it goes on the frame rails rather than just 4 bolts on the bumper rail. I thought I was getting the Toyo one when I bought the FJ but I am glad it ended up being an aftermarket. I complained when I was first told but had to apologize because I am so much happier with the aftermarket style. Also, it won't cost you as much and will only take 30 minutes to install. You can probably visit your local uhaul and score one for under 130.

No. It is tucked right up against the bumper. That's another good point. It will offer some protection rather than tearing off the bumper cover. This thing is looking better all the time.

I have an '03 Stab Primo. Hitting Snowshoe WV this weekend for one more big air/dh session before they close for the season the 14th.

I don't know. Personal preference when it comes down to what you buy. What I have is much more solid (based on looks alone) but if you are only going to use it for a bike rack, the stealthy look may suit your needs. A little more difficult and time consuming to install as well as a few more bucks.

Downhilling is a riot after you pay with your body for a couple years. Been doing it about 7 or 8 years and once I graduated up to the 8" to 9" travel bikes, it is tons of fun. I really did incrementally move up in travel over the years. Can ride about anything although I've taken the attitude "I have nothing to prove" so I usually shy away from the biggest jumps (talking large road gaps and/or drops of more than 8 ft depending on the landing). A child will change your way of thinking sometimes and usually for the better. Not saying talking smack still doesn't happen but we all usually can come up with some kind of excuse not to do it. The best one to say is "I'll hit it next time".

Re: 149 good for the Hitch and cover???

OEM allows more clearance. Rated at 500 lbs at the tongue and 5000 lbs tow rating. It uses 6 bolts to attach to the bumper. Its really very sturdy.

I asked in this thread Trailer Hitch Recommendations.

Re: 149 good for the Hitch and cover???

I PM'd TRD source regarding this but they must be busy...I'm not in a huge hurry....and while mhcruiser's recommendation was excellent, I think its worth the extra duckets to get an integrated look. Thanks all!!

Re: 149 good for the Hitch and cover???

TRDSources price includes wiring. He will sell without wiring for 149 I believe. There is a recent thread about this where he says to just call direct and he will take care of you. IMO, OME hitch is much much cleaner look than any aftermarkets to date. Plus for the die hards, better clearance.

Bingo! The rear bumper is the frame crossmember...save weight, clearance, and warranty...buy OEM.
