Re: A-Trac switch install with pics

Oh, there were many others to thank here, like VooDooGirl and Tranman - just to name a couple... All I did was take their suggestions, consolidate/simplify and refine a little, toss in a couple of my own ideas, take a few pics and publish to a site for others to find on the web.

But you are welcome! Glad "WE" could help.

So all the stuff written about the Atrac button trick only works when having the RR DIFF LOCK from factory
Did you shift to 4-low, then turn the A-TRAC on? If that is the case, at least you have proved that it definately only works on the ones with rear locker.

...even though that the atrac doesnt have any relationship with RR lock function... I would like to have noticed and discused in the forum.

THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW.

I shift 4lo and turn atrac on, but nothing...
Yes, NOW I noticed. I just have a common 4x4 with a button that only lights up...lets buy all the buttons to fill'em up.

I checked the price for the rear locking differential assembly, its cheaper than I thought, but the "64,000 cents question" is how much will cost me to install it and is every harness already there?

It might be possible to add the switch, locking diff and computer. Do you realize to get the A-TRAC to work you will also have to change the TRAC ECU/actuator/master cylinder assembly?

Re: A-Trac switch install with pics

Wait until you are ready for a new FJ and order with the RR locking. I installed the A-TRAC. lighst everything comes one and RRlock goes off as it supposed to but have not have a chance to really try it out yet.

Its not worth your money and headaches to retrofit the RR lock after the fact, IMO.

Re: A-Trac switch install with pics

I posted this on another thread, but the Toyota STAR information (about when certain functions work and don't work) probably belongs here on a sticky thread.

Re: A-Trac switch install with pics

Mine does not work I guess because I don't have RR locker, but I have the wiring for the rr locker switch. Maybe installing the RR locker switch might trick it into working but i doubt it. I ask this to anyone who already have the ATRAC to disconnect the RR locker switch then engage the ATRAC and see if it still works.

I have no atrac or rr lock too but I ordered the atrac button without noticing that it wont work. Now because of that I also ordered the rr diff lock button just to fill the blank covers.

I live in Puerto Rico and the FJs comes directly from Japan, so Toyota of Puerto Rico 'customs' the FJs on their way, so what I got is a 4x4 Voodoo with all the gadgets but just didnt came with Atrac and RR LOCK. I was pissed off but I couldn't wait more. Since March until June 27 waiting....
