Those of you who have done the a-trac hack, Does your "a-trac" dash light come on when you activate the switch? Mine does not (MT 6 in 4L with rear lockers off). Could it be hooked up to the wrong wires?
Yes and Yes. a few have report the wrong wires behind the "atrac" blank (where the atrac button is normally found). You'll have to read the thread again or search. I can't remember the correct colors. PM wolfbak, i think his had the wrong wires connected to the atrac blank.

Re: A-Trac switch install with pics

I know $50 is cheap to add this option but the real cost of this switch is $5 max. Has anyone looked into an unmarked, low cost option? Take a look at this link:
http://www.delcity.net/delcity/image...ings/73433.pdf and different colors here:Del City - Illuminated Surf N Turf Rockers

I have not gotten the switch and probably will but would like to know any marking on the switch that would indicate the manufacturer and manufacturer part number. If not then could someone tell from markings on the side what specifically the electrical connections are? If you have one maybe you could take some pics of them and e-mail to me or post them and I’ll look into it. I am thinking that if we get a bunch of blank ones we could pay a couple bucks and have the silk screen put on.

Hey all,

I picked my FJ about three weeks ago! I'm loving it. After reading the posts, I have to say THANK YOU! for the ATRAC switch installation tips. I ordered the switch from TRD Source and received it on Monday. Last night on the way home from work, I pulled out my ID Card (a little harder plastic than a credit card) and slid it under the bottom of the blank and it slid right out on the first try. When I got home, I ran inside, grabbed the switch out of the box, ran back out, plugged it in, and took off for the beach, at night, in the rain!

PERFECT!!!
I ordered my switch two days ago (and floor mats!!). Can't wait to use it!!!

No... not the floor mats, the switch, silly...

Re: A-Trac switch install with pics

Just did this mod, it works great! Many props to the discoverer. One caveat: There are two bolts that need to come out on the MT6 models, they look to be in the same place as described on the AT model. Easy too, takes about 10 minutes. Thanks again!

So has anyone come up with any downside to this thus far? I can't really see one and I assume the truly paranoid could always pop the blank back in for dealer visits. Just curious if any real negatives had been identified.
Nothing other than the ATRAC light does not light when you turn the key on. Usually all lights are "checked" when you hit the key but the ECM probably does not know I have ATRAC - he he he!!

I don't think that the A-trac light is supposed to come on when you start the vehicle. I think that only the slip indicator light comes on. The paragraph right under the bullet point next to the picture of the slip signal.....if you read the Auto-LSD section it says that the Auto-LSD light and the Slip light should come on at start up....but nothing about the A-trac light.

Same here, no need to disassemble everything. Popped the cover off with a thin screwdriver and the wiring was attached to the back of the plate. Two minute install.
Indeed. I too opted for the quick 2min install.

It actually took longer for me to find a second thinner screwdriver than it did to install.....

If you choose this though, use caution when 'prying' out the cover button, as the plastic could easily be torn up. I made sure to put most of the pressure on the plastic on the existing fake button. Who cares about that thing.

Re: A-Trac switch install with pics

Just ordered the switch from FJ Cruiser offroad. Now I need to find a place where I can test if it works correctly when it is done. I suppose now that the snow is gone that I need to get a wheel in the air? Just thinking "outloud", really.
