Re: ARB Safari Snorkel to CAI Install w/Pics

Thanks, Go to the vender section or group buy section, there is alot of talk right now on the forums about the Snorkel, it just hit the US shores a few days ago. They are going like crazy on here. Man-a-free, Tora Sport, FJCruiserpartsstore, etc. They are selling them, I hope this helps.

What does it say to do about the holes in aircleaner box. I have already installed one on my FJ80 many years ago. The big brown truck is in route as we speak. Looks bad ass.

Re: ARB Safari Snorkel to CAI Install w/Pics

Thanks everyone, I thought I would add this little disclaimer to the above post. I just want those that plan on doing this MOD, they know what they are getting into. Some people are more confident then others when it comes to working on vehicles, I just felt I should have some type of statement saying so.

I decided that I should make some type of disclaimer for this MOD. I don’t want people to think that you just buy this part buy this other part and everything then just fits together, that is very unrealistic. The reason is we are adapting non-vehicle parts to make another aftermarket part work. I know this is a given, but felt there should be some type of warning to those that want to adapt the Snorkel to the CAI.

There is a lot of fitting that requires to modify the one of the supplied pieces that the Safari Snorkel came with, the flexible connection and your CAI box needs to be modified a little too, slightly cutting a little off the intake part of the box. When trying to adapt any type of “New” system to a vehicle there is always the risk that it might not work, that’s the price you pay sometimes. This MOD can work but you cannot rush through the install, it takes a lot of time fitting and measuring and fitting some more. For those of you that proceed good luck.

Yeah, I threw that plumbing piece away, ran the ARB air intake straight into the CAI and siliconed around it. Water tight now.

Re: ARB Safari Snorkel to CAI Install w/Pics

Cool, you found a new way to make the conection. It is a royal PITA to get your hands in that tight little spot between the inner crumple zone and the fender. Did you snap any pics of it? Did the ARB piece fit inside the box opening or around it? Thanks

Inside. ...thus the need for silicone. I attempted to use some window glazing rubber, but it kept pushing out.

I'm running a fever, but will take some pics when I can.
