Metal Tech sliders installed!

These things are stout. Went on without any issue. And I love them!

Thanks to Mark for covering all the details and keeping me posted, if not the general public.

The pallet arrived...

I ripped through the saran, bubble wrap, cardboard, pallet straps...

And about 45 minutes later...BAM, those look sweet! OK, it might take less, if you have help, but I was by myself, assisted only by 2 floor jacks to hold them while I bolted them up. They came with all the grade 8 hardware necessary: bolts, lock washers, hardened washers and went on with no issues.

One install tip I can give and this is probably true of most bolt on accessories...keep the bolts loose until you get the slider lined up straight with the bottom edge of the rocker panel, THEN crank 'em down. I had to redo one of them because I forgot to check my alignment before the final torquing.

Good stuff! I love how you have accented your rig so well. I can't believe that onbody has done this with a TuRD yet. K

Damn, those sliders are really nice! Out of curiosity, how much did the pair weigh?

Re: Metal Tech sliders installed!

Looks very nice.

I would've jumped on the gift certificate too, but I thought that one of the early pieces would be more useful to someone else that is in the rocks a lot. In my mostly city driving, I think these would also work great as a step.

They are designed to be step sliders. Also they are meant to be family friendly for kids, as open tube sliders are dangerous for small feet. Kids have slipped on tube sliders before, leg slides into the slider and the child’s leg is injured.

We did a balance of them sticking out almost 4” when the door is open to step on, yet not too far where they look like pontoons. Also off road we don’t want them sticking out too far as well!

Of course they are built to support weight of the truck, you can lift one side with a fork lift off the sliders. They are CNC laser cut out of 3/16” steel plate and CNC bent to the faceted shape like the hood of the trucks. The front and rear of the bodies are faceted and ramped for approach and departure. They are also powder coated on the inside as well as the outside of the main bodies.

These were also custom powder coated to the red for BMTinker, nomaly they are powder coated black.
