Re: Installed the GOBI Stealth yesterday

How do you open the rear window after the installation of the ladder?

According to the Gobi representitive, you need to remove it to have access through the window. The best thing to do is to take the extra step of opening up the door.

lookin' good granger, nice choice. IMO it looks better than stock, and its more functional. Just one question though; where's the Hi-Lift jack and the shovel, and the jerry cans and the..... Nothing like accessorizing your accessories.

If you want to remove it be sure not to use the adhesive strip on the lower part of the ladder. It adheres the bottom of the ladder to the outer door trim. There is still a bracket that holds it all in place.

Re: Installed the GOBI Stealth yesterday

Damn you for posting your Black FJ! I have a Silver on order, and there is an unsold Black one on the lot with the same package. I thought I didn't like the Black-White two-tone (looks like an LAPD truck). I already drive a police car.

Now I am re-thinking this

Re: Installed the GOBI Stealth yesterday

awesome looking setup. i'm lookin to get a black fjc and that rack was gonna be my first upgrade. now i know exactly how it will look. i cant wait even more now.

did you have the original rack before? gobi says their stealth rack is 95 lbs. i was wondering if it was more than the original. it's gotta be since gobi is steal instead of the factory aluminum, just wondering by how much.

My guess is the OEM roof rack is about 35 pounds.

Nope, I knew I wanted a Gobi back when I was preferencing my FJC so I left the factory rack off.

Re: Installed the GOBI Stealth yesterday

I must have the stealth, and those small lights front and back. G-man you consistenly suck. I knew i would want a Gobi rack too but there's no such thing as "preferencing" when you live under Gulf States Toyota Tyrrany. So I'm going to live with the factory rack for a while.
g-man will probably get his ARB before me too, turkey, although I guess he deserves it. He knew the product number before anyone else.
