sorry this thread is off topic VTFJC I'm not going to call you names or try to discredit you ....
Thanks- I do appreciate that- although theres not much left of me anyway since i've been torn to pieces already
Ive read the above and your links- its not looking good that the tires will last as I originally hoped they would- but, even still, Im giving them a shot- so far - so good. If snow/Ice driving is a problem like I have always feared it would be for these tires, then they will quickly be swapped for Hakkas, as is my usual ritual every November.
Also thank you Thai , especially for pointing out the load range which is in fact important to me. I always buy load range E and never even considered they would put load range P on there!

There's a thread on ih8mud where someone has experimented with cutting the diff-lock-switch-position wire. See the posts by "freewheeling frank" and "Alex H":

I looked at some of the posts breifly, pretty technical stuff...I'll have to spend some time digesting it to see if it's worth while. Thanks!

Re: Turning off the VSC

I'm not sure what people think that I'm going to do if I happen to find a reasonable way to disconnect the VSC??? Probably 70% (a pure guess) of the vehicles on the road today don't have a traction aid. Having it certainly doesn't make you a good, sensible driver anyways, does it??

I think I am a good sensible driver: I have never had a ticket in my life and I have never caused an accident. I keep long distance from other cars, keep in line, always use my turn signals. I have also attended driving schools, raced autocross (in a Fiat X9), went to off-road driving classes, drove almost everywhere in the world etc.

I was hit by other cars, and I had to brake or avoid an obstacle numerous times. I have hit patches of ice on mountain passes even when driving at a very reasonable speed.

Today - I will never ever buy a car without traction control. My current BMW (AWD wagon) convinced me of that - it is absolutely amazing how well it corrects itself on slippery roads and in emergency situations.

It is STUPID (IMHO) not to use modern traction control when driving on public roads. Just like I would not buy a bad parachute, or worn-out climbing protection. Sure you can do with whatever you have - but why?

Racers also promote beer viagra, cigarettes, and practically anything else you pay them to promote- doesnt make it any safer! They must have an off switch- How do they do doughnuts? Im not disagreeing with you- im sure its safer to have it on in most situations- but where does it end? Should all cars be completely computer controlled and we just sleep in the passenger seat because it would be safer that way?
I notice Nascar does let their drivers do those highschool antics

I am forbidden to answer.... Apparently, you can't argue against someone who is wrong on this forum...you should just let him/her continue posting garbage over and over again. Ooopps, i have said too much....

Mental note: keep quiet next time, esp. in the presence of the new moderators.

Re: Turning off the VSC

Yeah it is kinda wierd having a moderator that is actually on-board.

I have to hit the delete key a lot more all of a sudden, before I hit Submit Reply.

I'll admit it I'm kinda skeered, but also a little intrigued. It's kinda like when the substitute teacher takes over the class at first. It takes a while to see how long the leash is....so to speak
