Re: Hd Polyethyline Skids

Seems like someone could make a nice side biz making these and offereing them for quite a bit less than steel.

Re: Hd Polyethyline Skids

at 1/2" they come 4'x8' which by my rough measurements should be enough to cover font skid, oil pan and tcase with some extra on 2 vehicles. so basically if you're willing to invest the $150 or so + a your weekends, you can make a decent turnaround if sombody wanted to fabricate them and sell them. i would love to do it but i'm jsut not that keen on sacrificing my weekends, though i really do need the $, so pending the results of my skids i'll let you know what i decide as far as manking them goes.

Re: Hd Polyethyline Skids

The picts of this past weekend and the damage to the skids will be posted up this weekend . I'm getting a bigger response than I anticipated. If the weather permits (don't have a garage) I will unbolt my skid plate this weekend and cut and bend up a template,, maybe a few. I also talked to my welder about how much it would cost for the material ( the tubing) and of the labor to bend and weld the cross bar that I really think is nesessary to protect the transfer case. will get picts of that too.and will also weigh the poly . I will also check into the 10 ft. piece of poly. maybe will get the front done to. As you know mine stops at the front cross member of the lift kit. If I knew I was going to get this kind of response I would have done alot of research before I posted. Im just a guy that likes doing things myself and experimenting with different kinds of (cheap) material. Could I get some kind of response of the price you guys are willing to pay for these before I get involved in buying 50 sheets of hdpe. and 150 ft. of tubing, and angle iron. oh ya and bolts,,,, wow not cheap any more.. :LOL Capt.

Re: Hd Polyethyline Skids

Looks like you can find 4 x 8 sheets at McMaster and Grainger. Both list under $200. I know Grainger has a lot of stores to save shipping costs.

Re: Hd Polyethyline Skids

I need to get to bed now. You know when you need a hand I'll be there. I'm thinkin' my laminate trimmer would come in handy and if needed we could work up at our shop in Southbury provided I can get my brothers landscaping equipment out of the way and my go cart, quads, and motorcycle. Plenty of room. It's 30' x 30'
