Re: Ssd Prototype Bumper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks nice but I am thinking way over priced for what it is.

Re: Ssd Prototype Bumper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The price is a bit too high, but it looks ok.
I was wondering why does everyone think of making a bigger bumper and not something smaller for those who don't want winches, maybe you can target that group which includes me. I had to go with All Pro
Good Luck

very clean lines. i dont see too many weld beads. did you make a lot of this by bending sheet metal?
Yes, I believe that is why SSD's cost is higher.

Looks like it mounts just like AllPro's as well

Looks like room for a winch, but where's the Fairlead hole? Is there a winch mounting plate built into it?

Gonna be hard to sell them at that $

all my .02
There will be a fairlead hole and a winch mounting plate added somewhat soon.

looks like an allpro and $500 more.....thanks but no
Not to be defensive but the $1200 estimated price would include a full hoop design and an All pro with a hoop design costs $929. SSD's pricing might be only about $200-250 more, but the full hoop design will be much different.

....the RA is more expensive, but well worth every penny when you see how much Bigger and Stronger built it is compared to most others....it's ok, I'm glad to see more options for people out there for the FJ.
Thanks for the input- I don't know everything about bumpers but I have learned alot in helping with this build. One thing I know is that SSD wants to build the strongest and most well built bumper available. We just wanted to let out this prototype to get some input and new ideas.

These are the specs of the SSD bumper. Please compare it to the competition.
You will find that it is much tougher than any bumper out there. Quality costs.

3/8" main structure of the bumper
¼" brackets to the frame
3/16" wings
10 gauge center section.
1/8" holding rubber mount

Not sure. Sorry, we forgot to weigh it before putting it on. It makes my OME medium sag just under 1/2". I originally thought about 80 lbs. but i think its a bit higher. I will get an exact weight as soon as I can.
