FJ and Tacoma Front Axle Interchangeability?

I have searched the forum but can't find an answer..
Which year tacoma (I assume 4wd + auto) can I get a spare front axle from? I am looking for a spare for Rubithon.

Thanks!

Re: FJ and Tacoma Front Axle Interchangeability?

03-07 4Runner axles work...either side will work. I can't verify Tacoma retrofits.

Would be curious if they put a stronger front axle in the V8 4Runners? Anyone know?

It would be great if I had a clue, but let's face it, that's just not gonna happen.

It wouldn't be a Tacoma I think, the part numbers I've looked at match up to a '03 - newer 4-Runner though. I posted the part numbers in bellydoc's CV replacement thread a few months back.

Ahhh 4Runner, thats what I am looking for.
It looks like 07' FJ and 07' 4Runner axles run about $150 used. That should make a good trail spare (car-part.com).

Thanks!

No, they didn't. (But all V-8 4Runners use full-time 4wd transfer case system)

The 03-08 4runner, 05-08 Tacoma, and 07-08 FJC all appear to use the same front axle assembly from the info I've been able to gather...
