Re: DEMELLO vs ROAD ARMOR

I had a hard time choosing between Demello and the RA Titan bumper. I ended up buying the RA bumper.

In the end both bumpers serve the same purpose, but i liked the looks and build quality of the RA Titan better than the Demello bumper. IMO it is worth the wait and extra money.

Re: DEMELLO vs ROAD ARMOR

Demello has a good weight advantage over the RA, so I'd go with the Demello.

Re: DEMELLO vs ROAD ARMOR

I have a Road Armor, but not the Titan. I think the approach angle is comparable to the Demello. For the basic bumper the weight is not a big difference either. The Titan version may be heavier, but you're getting more protection in return (I suppose). I can't speak to the build quality of the Demello since I don't have one, but they are known for quality products and service. I can say that the RA build quality is excellent.

I like the looks of the RA better. The Demello is a very angular shape. Look at the FJ and you don't see many hard angles, it's a very organic shape with many curved surfaces. IMO the RA integrates better with this design. Just my opinion, so you need to make your own decision on that point.

For a comparable design to the Demello with a basic bull bar you might consider this version of the RA:

Re: DEMELLO vs ROAD ARMOR

I had the very very 1st RA bumper not counting the mock up one. So I was basically the guinea pig, for the 1st recovery.
Yes the reason it was ripped off was due to a F-350 flooring it with slack in the tow strap while I was still in gear. If the bumper didnt come off I would have bent my frame. The most damage was due to the fact I wrapped up my bumper mounted light wires with enough tape to cover the empire state building then ran them through my grill so they acted like steel cables. BUT after the incident RA did change the mounts to the same ones they use on H-1's.
Trust me that incident cost me ALOT of money if RA was at fault you all would have known. Out of the 1000's sold nothing has happen since then.

Ps The original bumper it self that went through that, came out unscathed, not one bend ,dent or scratch. It still on my FJ today.

Re: DEMELLO vs ROAD ARMOR

I battle with this debate often.

I am going with the Expedition 1.

Not to confuse you further.
