Rasta Skids

For those of you who installed them I have a question. The L brackets in the instructions (3.2) did you face these foward resting against the cross member? Thanks

You're talking about the 2 smaller brackets? I forgot the number and I don't know where the diagram is. The 2 smaller brackets face forward.

x2 they have to be put on facing foward, although I though they only fit in one position.

Re: Rasta Skids

They actually face to the sides do they not. You put them in the hole in the top of the crossmember and use the handle to hang onto while starting the bolt. Once the bolt is started threading you can let go of the handle and tighten the bolt. The handle part of the bracket ends up resting against the inside of the crossmember allowin you to tighten the bolt.

Re: Rasta Skids

Oh yeh and dont let go of them until you have the bolt started otherwise they will fall into the crossmember and than they are a beatch to get back out. I know this first hand. LOL

They are actually easy once you understand the logic. The bracket is just a big handle for the nut to hold it inside the crossmember until you get the bolt started.

Have Fun

Re: Rasta Skids

I actually have them facing foward on the outside of the crossmember. If you remove the skid you will see them. The aren't inside the crossmember, is that where they are suppose to be is inside the crossmember?? Directions would have been useful. Thanks.

You're correct. The diagram show it face outward. That is incorrect.

How do you fit it inside? I thought the brackets can't fit in there. Maybe I installed mine wrong??

Re: Rasta Skids

They will fit inside the cross member. Just have to installed them in like a "J" pattern into the hole/s.
I did mine that way, then lifted up the skid. Peek into the skid plate hole and adjusted the bracket to line up. Installed the bolt. And then tigten.

I faced my brackets outboard like the diagram.
