Light Racing UCA installed w/Pics

We installed the new light racing UCA on my buddy's truck this weekend. Installation was very easy. Just follow the insturctions. No cutting bolts or bending fenders was required as someone had told us. Just swap em out and yer golden. These things are sweet and super beefy. Mine are going on as soon as the new front suspension gets here.

Re: Light Racing UCA installed w/Pics

I wanted to make mine a little more noticable so I shot them with "safety red" to match everything else on my rig. They turned out good IMO. Can't wait to get them on and post some pics.

Re: Light Racing UCA installed w/Pics

[edited for clarification]

Looks good... I like that they utilized a standard
type ball joint (longevity), and to provide more
clearance for the tire/UCA, and also the ability
to adjust camber...

The only thing I have noticed about them is that
they do not provide additional angling of the ball
joint upward a tad as the AP/TC type do, as to
add additional droop over the stock UCA's which
bind(limit downward movement) before the full
limits of the suspension... Although the LR may
provide more movement in the ball joint itself,
simular to the uniball setup, but i have not seen
or tested them as of yet...

notice the rotated joint mount on the red uca's...

Re: Light Racing UCA installed w/Pics

I would think that a good machine shop could machine a few wedge shims that could alter the angle of the ball joint on the Light Racing UCA's. I'm sure there is a solution to be had relatively easily.

Looks good! Could you tell us a little more about the install? Like getting that long bolt out, or how long it took, or any uncommon tools needed, etc.? And how about the alignment- did you have have it re-done?

Thanks,
K

Re: Light Racing UCA installed w/Pics

^^^The bolts come out real easy, on the pass'
side you need only to pop the AC line out of the
plastic retainer clip on the inner fender skirt, and
the drivers' side, you need to loosen the two
10mm nuts holding the battery in so you can lift
up on the tray a tad to remove and insert the
bolts(long)...

Re: Light Racing UCA installed w/Pics

I don't quite understand the binding issue. The UCAs are specifically for lifted and long travel applications, but I don't know how they address the issues you bring up. I'll call the rep from toytec and ask for you. You do need to realign after installation, but that is true of all the UCAs and lifts.
