Expedition One Rock Slider Design... Feadback wanted..

Hear is our new design for FJcruiser sliders...

They will come out about 2" from the sides of the body, so you'll have a little bit of step.

Its made from 1.5" .120" wall tubing VS 2" which most others are made from. this will allow for more clearance underneath, and allows for tighter radiuses in the bend regions, giving more side protection by the wheel wells.... It kicks out just a bit at the back (as requested by voodoogirl) but not to much...

I just decide to through this in sence the drawings are mostly done.

Looks beefy. My two comments would be: 1) with such bulkiness at the attachment points, relocating the brake line on the driver's side might be an issue; and 2) I assume that the bottom of the attachment points is open to allow for attachment (i.e. allow the wrench/ratchet access to the bolts), but nonetheless may make it difficult.

Other than that, looks good.

Those are things we will be looking at to make sure installation is smooth. we won't to make it so all that you'll need to is standard tools (wrenches and sockets) to do the install...

Re: Expedition One Rock Slider & Rear Bumper Design... Feadback wonted..

My only question on the bumpers & sliders is are they clean installs or is 'modification' required, like for instance the brake line on the sliders or an AC line in the front bumper?

Also, does the rear allow for a towing package?

Thanks

Have you done a stress analysis?

I'm not too sure I like the way the slider bars are fixed to the brackets that mount to the frame. They do look incredibly strong for stepping on though.

Bumper looks nice!

Will there be a hitch for the rear?

Yeah, after doing the BentUp rails, making the rear mount on each side have a notch in it would make the install a snap...

Good question. As the sliders are right now, its possible that there could be some interferance. If there is it will be changed. to accomidate any of the breaklines or other lines that might be there....

On the front bumper there is a possibility that the coolent line that runs in the center part (I'm sure you've all seen pictures & know what I'm talking about) Might have to be bent back a bit. Originally we hoped to avoid it but its starting to look like moving it is going to be the best thing to keep from changing the structure of the winchmount...

and finally does the rear allow for a tow package? Yes. We might do an integrated reciver, but with all the room that is availible underneath the back, anoth thought would be to put a reciver hitch set back, somewhat underneath the vehicle, if that makes sence.... but at the very least the stock style Reciver will work with it...

not yet. It's quite possible the rails will change a bit from what your looking at right now some of the cutting was in an effort to make things a bit lighter, and was kinda done on the fly so to speek... It didn't change much 41lbs vs 42 lbs...
