Exclamation tire info that you should know

and if you know it than move on smarty pants

moabrat and I were havin some words back and forth aboot tire size info

here is some info I didnt know ( when i was 8 ) about how to read tire size

example 285/70r17
The tire size is made up of three numbers. The first number is the tire "width" (listed in millimeters 285 ) followed by a "/"; second, is the "aspect ratio" (the sidewall height listed as a percentage of the width 70, meaning that the hieght of the tire from rim or bead to the outside of the tire is or top of tire is 70% of the width of the tire in this case 199.5 mm high side wall ) followed by a "R"; then finally the rim size (rim diameter, listed in inches). When determining what tire you need all three of these numbers (width, aspect ratio and rim size) should match exactly

where as the easy tire to read for dumb ppl like me
example 33-10.5-r15
the tire is 33 inches tall 10.5 inches wide and fits on a darn simple 15 inch rim

Re: tire info that you should know

To add a bit more info...

Here is the calculation for tire height.

265/70-17

265*(.70*2)/25.4+17=31.6
