DEMELLO OFFROAD Sliders Installation (including swapping your e-brake cable brackets)
I received my Demello Offroad Sliders and I thought I'd take a few pictures during the install process. First off, I have to give major kudos to Jason and the team at Demello Offroad for building an excellent product. I ordered bare metal sliders with the intention of painting them, but the local Line-X shop made me a deal I couldn't resist, so I had them sprayed with Line-X. The Line-X actually creates a nice non-skid surface for standing on when your loading up your roof rack or for kids getting into the FJ. I know it will get scraped off with the first rock, but that's why I have cans of paint in my garage. The installation took me about 45 minutes including the picture taking.
All of the images in this thread are "clickable", so feel free to click on an image to view a larger picture.
The sliders primed, then coated with Line-X:
Emergency Brake Brackets:
There has been a lot of discussion about the e-brake cable getting in the way of aftermarket sliders. There are cables on both sides of the FJ and there are two cable brackets on each side (4 total). I had originally planned to move the front bracket rearward and mount it back in place with one of the slider mounting bolts. However, after crawling under my FJ I realized that if I swapped the front and rear brackets I would be able to reuse the OEM bracket locations and the e-brake cable would not rub on the slider gusset. You will need a 12mm wrench to remove the bracket bolts. Once the bolts are out simple expand the soft aluminum bracket with your finger and slip it off the cable. You will need to flip each bracket over before installing. Now reinstall the rear bracket in the front and the front bracket in the rear. Once the brackets were installed I did push them around (read: bent the bracket into place) a little in order to get the cable where I wanted it.
Here are a few shots of the sliders mounted on my FJ:
The sliders provide much improved protection over the Toyota rock rails I originally had installed and they stick out far enough to be used as a step.
How far do they extend from the side of the FJ? Looks like the sliders are a little uneven on how they extend out from the FJ (square portion sticks out from body slightly more than other end). Is that camera effect or design spec?

Measuring from the door sill they stick out 3.5". The rear of your FJ near the back tire curves inward, thus the appearance of the square tube sticking out at the back. The factory rails and all the others I have seen look the same.
A cross between quasimoto and the elephant man..... But only the good parts!!!!!
Hello chewey46 it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?
How do they handle you standing on them?? Do they flex or are they pretty stable??
They don't budge even with my 190lbs jumping on them.

Nice setup, Bullbar and Sliders are the only extras I've considered. Do you mind sharing on how much damage to the pocket book including shipping?
The sliders are available on Demello's website (www.demello-offroad.com) for $399. The ARB Bull Bars are available on FJ Cruiser Offroad's website (www.fjcruiseroffroad.com) for $899. Shipping will be different to each area of the country and depending upon what state you are in you may get dinged with taxes.
Please share the Line-X deal. I negotiating with the Rhino guys here and one is sticking to $200, the other will do for $160 but he has only had the business for 2 months. I think that it is too much and would like to have some Line-x information to share with him.
You beat me to the punch with this thread since I'm doing the same right now. I test fit mine before getting them painted/rhino'd/powder coated to make sure the brake line issue was a non-issue. I found that I didn't have to swap anything. The cable slid into place with some small manipulation into the existing holes. I don't want to hijack your thread so I'll post pics once I'm done.
They are nice aren't they...I'm glad I went this route.
