Cold Air

I was looking under my hood thinking about a CAI. The setup looks pretty good with two exceptions: 1. The ridges in the plastic tubing to the air box and 2: the fact the tubing is not insulated.
Has anyone wrapped or have an idea for a good wrap for the air intake plastic tube? Does anyone know of a smooth bent metal tube to replace the rough plastic intake tube? Thanks

Yes there is a good wrap (traditionally used for Header wrap, it ain't real pretty but it is pricey).
I considered it until I looked at our set up.
Very unusual in that it draws air directly from outside the engine bay (front pass. side wheel well)
I do not believe that with that already substantial improvement over lets say my rubicon (which draws air from inside the engine bay) there is much room for additional improvement.
Considering that an engine is already at approx. 200 degrees - shielding the incoming air for 18 inches isn't going to do anything.
If you were running a 1200 HP V12 - Maybe.

Re: Cold Air

Are you talking about a heat shield for the intake tube?

THERMO-TEC COOL-AIR-TUBE HEAT SHIELD
Protects air intake tubes from damaging radiant heat to keep induction air cool.
