Re: Exhaust: TRD or Stock

I just put a TRD Exhaust on my FJ and I love it. Feels like it added a little more bottom end. Sounds Great!

Re: Exhaust: TRD or Stock

exactly what part of the warranty would be voided when going with a flowmaster. just the exhaust system or does it carry into other areas? i have used flowmasters on all my other vehicles and they do make a 6 sound pretty good.

I must have missed something... not sure who said there would be a warranty issue because a cat-back will not effect the warranty in any way shape or form.
Now, with that cleared up. Cat-forward is a different story.
H-pipe,Y-pipe,X-pipe,Headers, altering accumulators, etc. ALL will have potential warranty implication IF a failure results and it can be directly attributed to that mod.

Re: Exhaust: TRD or Stock

don't know if he was just trying to sell that system or if a plain ol 2 chamber flowmaster would void something.

Who knows the best place to order the TRD exhaust from as far as price and availability?

Re: Exhaust: TRD or Stock

I think my FJ had every option except the TRD Exhaust, which I had installed a few weeks ago. I have to say that I'm not understanding the folks saying that it's too loud. I don't know that I've gotten a performance or mileage improvement, but I really like the light rumble you get when you're on the gas.

Maybe it's because I'm in SoCal with all the tuners / rice burners that you really notice on the streets, but this TRD exhaust is something that to me is really understated and classic.

Believe me when I tell you, no one is going to stop you for noise with the TRD set up. But...for those of you guys that are married or have a marginally "signed up" girlfriend that feel like it's socially unacceptable, I just wouldn't bother.

Pick another hill to die on...

Re: Exhaust: TRD or Stock

I got my FJ last week and just did the 500 mile oil change and noticed that the exhaust header/downpipe is alsmost squished flat where it goes under the crossmember. Seems a cat-back or any other mod would be pointless until this is "fixed ".
