Re: Exhaust: TRD or Stock

Seems to me the stock exhaust is entirely too loud. Or maybe it has the TRD on it and we weren't charged for it. How can you tell?

If the tail of the exhaust bends to the passengers side and does not go straight out, then it is TRD.

Re: Exhaust: TRD or Stock

Does the TRD exhaust consumes more gas than stock? Im thinking on swiping the exhaust to the TRD but I have to be shure.
-And what about in-cabin noise? I wouldnt like to have a competition between the "roaring" and the radio...

Also the letters T R D stamped in it are a pretty good tip off.

Not sure where you got the idea that a better flowing exhaust system would use more gas...if anything, it should do better seeing as the engine is breathing better & should be more efficient. But, in actuality, I highly doubt any change in MPG (both good or bad) could be seen with just a minor change from stock to TRD exhaust.

Also, you're talking about a dealer backed exhaust and a V6...kind of hard to classify anything with those two criteria as "roaring", so go for the TRD IMO. I love mine a lot more than the stock exhausts I test drove.

Re: Exhaust: TRD or Stock

As an aside, it's kind of too bad that they didn't pronounce it before
acronymizing it... TuRD just isn't appealing.

Anyway...today I dropped by the dealer to 'hear' a TRD exhaust.

Okay, yeah...so what? It's inoffensive, that's for sure.

The stock exhaust as I have does have a rather satisfying rumble
(for a V6).

I guess I'd take the power, if it's real. Perhaps in conjunction with
the promised TRD supercharger? May as well let it out as well as packing
it in.

But (and I speak as an AUDI S4 driver) as someone else said, 'for a truck
it moves out pretty well' even as stock.

I find I enjoy driving the FJ laid-back-wise.

Thanx Moby. I just was asking, you know, we have to watch for gas. Here in Puerto Rico is .80 cents per liter (do the math for the gallon) on Premium/Super gas which I fill the tank with $40 and there are a lot of traffic lights, speed bumps and pot holes in the city so the Stop-and-Go thing consumes more gas.
I am deciding between the Brush Guard or the exhaust. Im trying to satisfy myself w/ my FJ because I bought it with the upgrades (wheels, rack, 4x4, Fjammer w/ sub, alarm, rear-backing radar) BUT didnt come with atrac and rr diff lock. And since here the FJ still limited I want mine to be "da best" and waiting also for the offroad air dam lights.
