I had the fortune to see both trail gear and demello installed on two different fj'sthe demello looked thicker the guy with the trail gear had no real complaints they worked fine also.I chose allpro because of the amount they stuck out and the kick out at the rear.Happy shoppingSEK ROCKS hotsteel41
I've had allpro and trail-gear. I have also saw the demello hybrids. My trail-gear sliders held up with no problems. The drawbacks to the trail gears are the way they mount to the frame and also the clearance of rocks as mentioned above. However, they do work the best as steps out of the 3. The Demello sliders are well made also and mounting them is easier then the trail gear's. The allpro sliders bolting points are so much easier to access which makes mounting them or removing them go smoothly. Plus the kickout feature is something that appealed to me.
I got the trail gears a couple of days ago and I love them. Yeah they're a little low but it's necessary to be a good compromise of a slider and step which is what I wanted. I also think they're the best value for the buck. When I got mine I was hesitant because of all the packaging issues a lot of people were reporting but it appears they have fixed that. I had enough foam wrap to stuff 3 trash bags full and there was not a scratch on them. I love my trail gears and have no regrets.
Look, I love the Demello stuff. But this crap about TG being crap... well, that's uhm - crap. My TG sliders arrived perfect. I had them shipped raw. They fit perfectly. The welds are as pretty as any hand-made part I've seen (I buy stuff for my Jeeps too). I've (the FJ) landed on them several times - no damage.
I love how you guys are so fast to bash other stuff - stuff you've not used or tested.
I too received my TG stuff and it arrived in perfect shape with all the necessary items included. They're product is just as good as any other stuff out there that I've had the chance to inspect personally. I've heard Jason makes top notch stuff too and from what I've had the pleasure of seeing from his gear....it holds up to it's reputation... When you ask someone about products here....obviously it helps if they reveal that they've owned both and therefore have an valid opinion as to why they think one is better than the other. Already sounds like from your first post that you've already made up your mind.

"No, if anyone orders Merlot, I'm leaving. I am NOT drinking any fܢk!ng Merlot!
I bought trail gear's after reading up on all the reviews in this forum. Like this one My Trail Gear Slider Story (pics) highlighting all the pros and cons. I made my purchase based on the recommendations of fellow forum members. Whether its made in china, japan, usa, south america, etc. there are always products and support that are of great quality and products and support that are of bad quality. Demello's work and support is praised, (and I would sure like to get their bumpers...soon!!!!) while at the same time, Road Armor is leaving the wrong impression. Trail gear, among the many quality vendors, offered a product I wanted, with the features I needed, at I price I wanted to pay. I just went their route... And when they shipped out, wow, did they have them packed with A LOT of foam wrap!
There is a difference between Made in China and product of china. Most company going over China for cheap labors not for cheap raw materials. My Nike shoes one of the best in America are made in China. I don't see Nike going bankrupt because of cheaply made shoes. I also have a TomTom one of the best GPS from Europe that made in China. I understand that we need to buy American to support our country but people who say anything that made in China are cheap is so 10 years ago.
If you have the choice to buy a Nike shoe made in US, would you buy the China ones?
I know you would buy the US ones, not only for the "support" but for the quality.
There is a shop here that sales batteries and they sale the same brand made in US and made in China, the US ones are 20% more expensive than the China ones, but they last 3 or 4 times longer. What do you think about that?

I also have to say, installing them was probably the easiest install i have ever done.. if i wasn't richarding around both sides would have been on in about 15 minutes.
Those have to be the best welds I have seen in a very long time, I can weld but, dang that is some great great welds, I believe my choice is going to be the round Demello sliders, a great weld makes all the difference in strength and for looks, nothing looks worse than a dirt dobber looking weld, great job Demello, it takes great time and carefull workmanship to have a great weld, that tells me that you take the time and effort to make a A+ product.
