Geesh, 10 posts and nobody has chimed in with a response like "why do you want to do that" or "that's the dumbest idea ever" or my personal favorite "you're going to get yourself, your whole family, and all the children in a 100 mile radius killed!" - what's happening with this forum, are you all getting soft?
At least someone responded with a "try the search" response though.
Sorry, couldn't resist...
Chuckwagon - welcome and good luck trying to figure it out - I haven't a clue (in general).
Now I just wish I could turn off that blasted beep when I put it in reverse...
Funny som***** you are homer.. I feel your pain. The people here argue thier opinions where they are not wanted nore needed or asked for, for that matter.
I to quite enjoy the "your going to kill everyone in a 100m radius by doing a dognut with vcs disabled".
If only people would read the questions being asked. I have never found one asking for peoples opinion on wether it should be done for the good of man kind and or the safety of others.
I have stumbled into a way to disable them on my 6MT, I can get it to work about 7 out of 10 tries.
When all 3 of those lights are light up on the dash, everything is disabled (VSC and TRAC). Have played with it in an empty and very icy parking lot, when the lights are out (normal function) evrything is beeping whirring as normal. When I can those 3 to light up......zip, zero, zilch nothing.
No idea what the benifit would be for a 6MT having them disabled.

so, what is this way? other than disconecting the harness to the brake control.

The service manual shows how to shut off the VSC and TRAC.
Code:
FOR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH TRACTION
CONTROL (TRAC) SYSTEM
When testing with a 2-wheel drum tester such as a
speedometer tester, a combination tester of the
speedometer and brake, a chassis dynamometer, or
when jacking up the front wheels and driving the wheels,
always turn the TRAC system OFF.
(a) Confirm that the TRAC system is OFF.
(1) Ignition switch to OFF.
(2) Connect SST to terminals TS and CG of DLC3.
NOTICE:
Confirm that the VSC/TRAC warning light
blinks.
(b) Begin testing.
(c) Disconnect SST from DLC3.
(d) Check that the VSC/TRAC warning light turns OFF.
HINT:
The SLIP indicator light blinks when the TRAC
system is operating.
9. FOR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH VEHICLE
STABILITY CONTROL (VSC) SYSTEM
(a) NOTICES WHEN USING DRUM TESTER
(1) Before beginning testing, to disable the VSC,
turn the ignition switch OFF and connect SST to
terminals TS and CG of the DLC3.
SST 09843-18040
NOTICE:
• Confirm that the VSC warning light blinks.
• VSC system will be reset when the engine
is restarted.
• For safety, secure the vehicle with
restraint chains while using a wheel
dynamometer.
(b) NOTICES OF RELATED OPERATIONS TO VSC
(1) Do not carry out unnecessary installation and
removal as it might affect the adjustment of VSC
related parts.
(2) Be sure to follow the instructions for work
preparation and final confirmation of proper
operation of the VSC system.
You could use two wires and a switch so that it can be turned off at any time although it appears you have to turn the key off to turn VSC/TRAC off and on.
The FJC has a data recorderthat can be looked at after an accident. It seems that it stores a lot of data. If you're turning off safety features I might suggest a BIG umbrella liability policy.
I was on the ice today in 4 low (manual trans, no a-trac) going very slow up hill and the traction control engaged.
I thought the traction control was not active in 4L. Anyone else notice this?
Went to cargnigie a couple of weeks, and tried to spin some donuts. (just so everyone knows, cargnigie is an off road park, so playing around like this, is totoally legal) Needless to say it wasn't working. So a quick pop of the hood and disconect of the harness (and some electccal tape to cover the sensors) and i was drifting like the pro's! Now iv'e also found that there are times were you don't need 4WD if you were able to get the tires to spin a bit.
