Well the MT's are 4 wheel drive all time. Does the L refer to the locking center differential?
Yep. 4H, 4HL, N, 4LL.

Re: how to disable VSC (it works)

Is it okay to cruise down the highway or around town with the center differential locked?

And what is the advantage of locking the center diff?

You would only want to use the locked (Torsen) center on a slippery surface. (snow, gravel, etc.) Turning is increasingly difficult with a locked center differential. Locking splits power to front and rear differentials 50/50.

More info: Torsen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When all else fails, check your users manual. I believe it may also be described on the back of your sun visors. (not sure)

Re: how to disable VSC (it works)

ISn't it funny how after all the posts criticizing even considering the possibility of turning off the VSC - Toyota now has a switch to do that very thing in 4runners, Tundra's and 09 FJ's...

Don't y'all just hate being w w w w wrrrrro.... yeah Fonzie couldn't say that word either LOL

Re: how to disable VSC (it works)

I'm just going to throw this out there...this is a great way to wear down the stock duncraps so I can move on to some BFG A/T's

P.S. I only do this in places where it is safe, i.e. empty parking lot

I cant believe I just read all 18 pages. This is why ppl dont like to search and research threads, bc half of this thread has nothing to do with the op. This mostly talks about other cars like my how my audi is better than your miata. my turbo is bigger.

I agree. I however, skipped to the end. There was a guy back in the 2006 posts near the beginning that said something about his camaro having 320HP and but with his switch for traction control he felt safe. I'm sorry but I just had to laugh, what would happen of he ever got his hands on something like a Hemi (real hemi) Roadrunner or Superbee? 71 Talledega, or something similar that pushin like 500 ponies? yeooooow.....
