ARB bull bar problems, HELP

Hey guys
I installed my arb bumper with an M8000 winch
All was well, after taking it offroad I noticed that the bumper was touching the body work under the turn signal on both sides
I contacted ARB they said that I need to lower it and that it should be minimum 5 mm between the lowest point of the bodywork under the turn signal and the bumper
They were right I had it at 3mm so I dropped it to 6mm to be on the safe side and tested it on a forklift by flexing the suspension all was well
Now it’s only contacting the body on the passenger side, peeling off the paint(picture 1)
I called ARB they said that it should be adjusted left to right
After measuring it I got 12mm on the driver side between the plastic over fender and the wing of the bull bar(picture 3)
And I got 10mm on the passenger side(picture 2)
Meaning that I need to move it 1mm to the passenger so I would have 11mm on both sides
Will 1mm make that much of a difference
Knowing that I measured everywhere else and it all seemed ok and I sent pictures to ARB and they said it’s ok except for left and right
I need any feedback from anyone who had this problem and can u tell me if its centered on your trucks and if you can provide some exact measurements
Thank you

Re: ARB bull bar problems, HELP

I just walked down to the parking garage and measured mine.

I have 14mm on the driver's side and 11mm on the passenger, and the bumper isn't close to touching the paint or the fender lip on either side. Measurement is from the trim piece under the headlight to the bumper. I've also got about 4mm between the metal body strap just under the painted trim piece and the bumper (at the closest angled point of that body strap).

I don't have a winch installed, though, if that makes any difference.

Re: ARB bull bar problems, HELP

I had some collision body work done, and they installed the bumper (in lieu of another plastic one).

Maybe you can install some thick steel washers to offset the bumper from the frame? I don't know if that'll help or not, but it's an option - especially if you're only talking about a few millimeters...

Re: ARB bull bar problems, HELP

Rachad,

if you are going to wheel hard, pull the bumper as far forward and down from the body as possible. The mount for the arb flexes a little bit, IF you mount the bumper too close to the body it will bend backwards into your fenders if you take a hard hit.

Re: ARB bull bar problems, HELP

I have those marks on mine. But it is not from normal driving. My super swamper was really out of balance and i was in a caravan so i had to keep up. The ARB was shaking like crazy and made some light contact. Most people try and mount it as close as possible so it looks better but this is wrong it should be a good distance away.

In installed mine. What are you asking though. About your only option is to make a new pinning hole through the bumper and mounting bracket.

Re: ARB bull bar problems, HELP

hubby installed mine. let me go out and take some pictures/measurments for you. i have absolutely no rub and i flex mine a moderate amount. i dont have a winch yet though...but that shouldnt matter. my friend has an arb with winch and his never rubs either.
be back in a little bit
