Re: Daystar 2.5" Front & 1.5" Rear Lift Photos

Questions guys, I just order (Daystar 2.5" Front & 1.5"), from ebay. I have been reading a lot on this through the threads and I am still skeptical about it. The only reason I want this kit is because I want 33 inch tires under the FJ. The place where I am planning to get the tires told me that they had installed this kit in the past on Dodge Rams and after about 15,000 the tires were worn out just on one side. They usually only do work on trucks, which of course are a lot heavier than the FJ. As much as I want I honestly won't be doing any off roading (I live in FL). But like some other people mentioned I'd hate to save some money on the lift, and demage the FJ. I think I will be ok considering what I want the kit for, but I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you

FJ Guga, expect many different views on this topic. IMO, you'll be just fine. If the tires start wearing on one side, it sounds like you need to get your tires rotated. I don't see how this lift will cause premature tire wear.

Even with the added stress on the coils and components, you'll not likely do any damage to your FJ by installing this lift any time soon. The amount of stress added is minimal.

that's funny how much work it looked like to install the back spacers then mine. all i did was take the bolt out of the bottom of the struts on both sides then take the top bolt out from the sway bars then jack the rear of the car about four feet. the spring came out with no tools needed
what did you use to jack it up 4ft?

Starting Point:

Stock FJ with 285 70 R17 tires.
Fender lip to ground front 35 1/4"
Fender lip to ground rear 37 1/4"
One tire (right front) lift with other on the ground 16.5"

The Kit:

Lower shock bolts, sway bar bar bolts were removed to allow the rear axle to fully extend.

Using a spring compressor to remove the rear springs. The rear spacers are installed and the springs are reinstalled.

To reinstall the panard rod, a ratched tie down is used to glently pull the axle to the right side so the holes line up correctly.

Using the 1 1/2 inch spacer in the rear are you able to still keep the stock shocks?
