Yikes, be carefull with the truxx lift off road. It is a TOP load spacer lift and will seriously over-extend the CV joints, ball joints and everything else when you get any articulation going in the front end.

Let us know how it does when you get a front wheel hanging, and crank the steering to lock. I wanna know if the over-extending is too much for the FJs front end, or if it can handle it. (let us know if you pop a CV joint the first time you hang a front wheel and crank the steering)

This is the bad news about a top load spacer, (vs a preload spacer like the revtek).

Nice looking rig.
I guess i better carry an extra CV joint.

Just for eveyones information the spacer measures 1 1/4". We did test the drop when it was installed and it appears to be fine.....but you never know.....

can i ask you exactly how you painted your rims? what kind of paint/technique was used?

I took the tires off and scuffed the wheels and then gave them a bath with SEM solve (paint prep).

Then spent 12 hours of hating life taping them. repreped them, and dropped them off at my friend's paint shop to be painted and recleared with PPG products.

Then I spent about 3 hours taking apart the caps and painting them myself with paint made for plastic.

A project I will never do again....but I am happy with the results.

Hey man, I would really appreciate if you could do that test for me when you get the chance. I am contemplating what lift to get and was considering the Truxx lift until I learned what can happen with top load spacer lifts.

(most info is based on past experiences with 4runners and tacos though)

The FJs front end IS different, as the stock axles are ever so slightly angled upward to meet the spindles... so there might be much more drop available before failure than a tacoma or runner.

Let me know asap, as I will be purchasing a lift shortly. Where did you get the truxx lift, and how much did you pay?

I would just get the old man emu kit if you are worried.

I just got the truxx one because I got it for 250.00 from a friend.

Cant afford a high end lift.. which is why I am looking into the Truxx or the Daystar. I can get a truxx lift for 275, or the daystar lift is like 140.
