Re: turbo?

No turbo. Toyota makes a supercharger, but not for the FJ. Not yet at least. We are all hoping with our fingers crossed. BTW welcome the the family!!

Re: turbo?

I think Demello's FJ had a URD supercharger in it...I'm too lazy to look up the thread, though.

Re: turbo?

How much boost can you safely run? Aren't these engines already pretty high compression? I would love to supercharge but it would seem like these engines are not good candidates for boost.

I agree...I believe the compression is quite high as well. If it gets boosted, you'll probably only be able to put about 6 psi in there. Unless you strip it down and rebuild it for less compression or use a water injection setup. My miata runs 12 psi of boost with an intercooler and it's fine...but the factory compression ratio is around 8.5.

Re: turbo?

I'd definately want to know the facts and specifics about the bottom end of our motor. I know back when I owned my Supra twin-turbos, We had no idea how over-built those motors were. Now some of them are pushing 900-1200 hp on a stock bottom end.
It would be nice to find out our FJs are built like brick ****ters too.

Re: turbo?

My $.02 is that when Moby sees this thread he will come in with some smart ass comments (wouldn't be a moby post without that ) then let you know he is kidding then give you some good data as he is trying to get to 36K miles as fast as he can so he is out of warranty and can put a supercharger on without fear or guilt.

He's a car nut (and I mean that in a good way) and will probably have done the research already
