Re: Anyone have specs for TRD exhaust?

all I know is they cost alot! My suggestion: get a flowmaster muffler installed (for awesome sound), then have them install a chrome tip (for looks) if thats what you're looking for.

Nope been looking for it also. The improvement is probably insignicant and unnoticable in day-by-day driving but it sure sound different though...

Re: Anyone have specs for TRD exhaust?

It adds cost and makes the FJ sound more like a ricer.

That's it.

Re: Anyone have specs for TRD exhaust?

Just bought the exhaust tip and looks just as good. Only set me back $55.

Re: Anyone have specs for TRD exhaust?

I frankly didn't want one. Didn't care for the racier sound. They wouldn't replace with stock when purchasing, and couldn't find one in town that didn't have the TRD exhaust, so didn't have much of a choice.

My FJ is a daily driver (as well as weekend fun-mobile), so the exhaust sound is driving me a little nuts, or at least slightly deaf(er) as I crank up my stereo to drown it out.

I don't know much about exhaust/cat-back exhaust systems, but i know some tout increased HP, torque and/or MPG. If the TRD exhaust is neutral or improving in those specs, I may just live with it. But if it is costing me anything, I will be looking to go back to stock, or another that muffles the sound (pun intended) and doesn't cost me anything.

There was a post in the MPG thread that someone was reporting an appreciable decrease in MPG after putting on a TRD exhaust. Anyone care to chime in?

Anything else you folks care to report?

Plus one....

Endless debate on this sort of thing for the guys on Rennlist and AudiWorld (other two boards I frequent) General consensus from the guys who do performance for a lving is it costs a ton of $$$$ to get any appreciable increase in HP or torque out of an NA motor. Must modify exhaust, intake, head, etc. Now supercharger is another story.

Re: Anyone have specs for TRD exhaust?

Thanks, but what about decrease in performance caused by TRD exhaust?

Re: Anyone have specs for TRD exhaust?

Absolutely possible- I have seen plenty of before and after dyno runs, where the new "perofrmance" part being tested actualy gave worse performance. Of course, dyno runs on motors in-chassis being such an in-exact science, the difference could be attributed to temp, heat-sink, etc.

But most performance exhaust systems add sound and that is about it. At least Porsche is straight up about it- pay us 3k and we'll install Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE) that only adds a nice sound.
